Tây Sơn dynasty
The Tây Sơn were three brothers from Tây Sơn in central Vietnam who led a peasant rebellion from 1771. They destroyed the Nguyễn lords in the south, defeated a Siamese invasion in 1785, overthrew the Trịnh lords in the north in 1786 and routed a Qing army in 1789 under Nguyễn Huệ (Emperor Quang Trung). Divided after his death in 1792, they were destroyed in 1802 by Nguyễn Ánh, founder of the Nguyễn dynasty.
