Halmahera
Halmahera is the largest island of the Maluku Islands in eastern Indonesia, an irregular, four-armed island in the province of North Maluku. The small clove-producing islands of Ternate and Tidore lie off its west coast, and the sultanates of Ternate, Tidore and Jailolo competed for control of its coasts, people and sago supplies. It saw heavy fighting in the Second World War.
