Han campaigns against the Xiongnu (120s–110s BCE)
The Han campaigns against the Xiongnu of the 120s and 110s BCE were a series of large offensives launched by the Han Dynasty under Emperor Wu into the steppe. Commanders such as Wei Qing and Huo Qubing drove deep into Xiongnu territory and seized key pasture lands. The campaigns weakened the Xiongnu Empire militarily, though at great cost to the Han.
