Han Chinese
The Han Chinese are the majority ethnic group of China, taking their name from the Han Dynasty. They were the core population of native dynasties such as the Ming Empire. Under the Yuan Dynasty and the Qing Empire they were ruled by Mongol and Manchu elites, a relationship that shaped governance and, in the Qing case, nationalist opposition.
