Hanzhong

Hanzhong is a city in south-western Shaanxi, China, in the basin of the upper Han River between the Qinling and Daba mountains. In 206 BCE Xiang Yu made Liu Bang King of Han there, and from it Liu Bang broke out to found the Han dynasty, which took its name from the region. Its strategic passes were later contested between Liu Bei and Cao Cao, who lost it to Liu Bei in 219.
