Hattians

Also known as Hattian

The Hattians were the earlier inhabitants of central Anatolia, speaking a non-Indo-European language, before the rise of the Hittites. The Hittites adopted the land's name, Hatti, and absorbed many Hattian religious traditions and deities. They were thus an important foundation of Hittite culture.
