Heishui Mohe
The Heishui Mohe, or Black Water Mohe, were the northernmost group of the Mohe peoples, living along the Amur River in Manchuria. They resisted absorption by Balhae, and their submission to Tang protection in the 720s led to war between Balhae and Tang. They are regarded as ancestors of the Jurchens, who later founded the Jin dynasty and whose descendants were the Manchus.
