Henry I, Count of Schwerin
Henry I, called the Black, was Count of Schwerin in northern Germany. In May 1223 he seized King Valdemar II of Denmark and his eldest son on the island of Lyø and held them prisoner, releasing them only in 1225 for a large ransom and the surrender of most German conquests. He then fought with the north German coalition that defeated Valdemar at Bornhöved in 1227.
