Herisau

Herisau is a town in north-eastern Switzerland and the capital of the half-canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden. A market centre of the linen and later cotton trade, it grew into the canton's largest town. It shared the business of government with Trogen after Ausserrhoden's separation in 1597 and is now the seat of the cantonal government and parliament.
