Hexamilion wall
The Hexamilion was a defensive wall about six Roman miles long across the Isthmus of Corinth, guarding the only land route into the Peloponnese. It was built in the early 5th century CE under Theodosius II and repaired several times. The Byzantine emperor Manuel II rebuilt it in 1415 against the Ottomans, but Ottoman armies broke through in 1423 and 1446.
