Hikayat Banjar

17th century · 17th century

The Hikayat Banjar is the Malay-language royal chronicle of the Banjar Sultanate of South Kalimantan, surviving in versions from the 17th century onwards. It tells of the founding of Negara Dipa by a merchant from Keling, the move of the royal seat to Negara Daha, and the conversion of Prince Samudra, who became Sultan Suriansyah with help from Demak around 1526. It is the main source for the region's early history.
