Hornacheros
The Hornacheros were Moriscos from the town of Hornachos in Extremadura, Spain, a community known for its cohesion and martial reputation. Expelled with the other Moriscos between 1609 and 1614, they settled in the kasbah of Rabat at the mouth of the Bou Regreg river in Morocco. There they took a leading part in corsair raiding and in the self-governing Republic of Salé.
