Salé
Salé is a city on the Atlantic coast of Morocco, on the north bank of the Bou Regreg estuary opposite Rabat. Founded in the 11th century, it became a trading and religious centre, and in the 17th century it was a base of the Barbary corsairs known as the Salé Rovers, whose Republic of Salé raided shipping as far as Iceland. It is now part of the Rabat–Salé conurbation.
