House of Bourbon-Montpensier
The House of Bourbon-Montpensier was a branch of the French house of Bourbon that held Montpensier in Auvergne. Its most famous member, Charles III, Constable of Bourbon, rebelled against Francis I and lost his lands in 1523. His heirs recovered part of them, including the Dombes, in 1560 as dukes of Montpensier. The line ended with Marie de Bourbon, whose daughter was La Grande Mademoiselle.
