House of Bourbon
The House of Bourbon was a European royal dynasty that ruled France and, from the early eighteenth century, Spain. The Spanish Bourbons introduced administrative and fiscal reforms in the empire. Their weakness during the Napoleonic invasion of Spain helped trigger the independence movements in Spanish America and the decline of the Spanish Empire.
