House of Sverker

c. 1130–1222 · 12th century

The House of Sverker was a royal dynasty of medieval Sweden, founded by Sverker the Elder, who became king around 1130. For about a century its kings alternated on the throne with the rival House of Eric, and several of them died violently in the struggles between the two families. The line ended with the death of John Sverkersson in 1222.
