House of Suren

Also known as Suren-Pahlav

The House of Suren was one of the great noble families of Parthian and Sasanian Iran, with its estates in Sakastan, the present-day Sistan. Under the Arsacids its head held the hereditary right to crown the king, and its most famous member, the general Surena, destroyed the Roman army of Crassus at Carrhae in 53 BCE. The family remained powerful under the Sasanians.
