Huang Chao Rebellion
The Huang Chao Rebellion was a large uprising in China from 874 to 884, led by the salt smuggler Huang Chao. The rebels ravaged much of the country and captured both Guangzhou and the capital Chang'an. Although suppressed, the rebellion fatally weakened the Tang Dynasty, which collapsed soon afterwards.
