Hwaeom

Also known as Korean Hwaeom

Hwaeom is the Korean branch of the Huayan school of Buddhism, based on the Avatamsaka Sutra and its teaching of the interdependence of all things. It was founded by the monk Uisang, who studied in Tang China and returned to Silla around 670, and Buseoksa was among its main temples. It became one of the most influential doctrinal schools of Korean Buddhism.
