Islamabad
Islamabad is the capital of Pakistan, a planned city built from the early 1960s at the foot of the Margalla Hills, next to Rawalpindi. Chosen under Ayub Khan to replace Karachi as capital, it was laid out by the Greek planner Constantinos Doxiadis in sectors with green belts. It is home to the Faisal Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world.
