J. C. Godeffroy & Sohn
J. C. Godeffroy & Sohn was a Hamburg trading house that from the 1850s built a commercial empire in the Pacific, with its regional headquarters at Apia in Samoa. It developed coconut plantations and the copra trade across the islands, and its Museum Godeffroy in Hamburg collected Pacific natural history and ethnography. After the firm's financial collapse in 1879 its Pacific business passed to the Deutsche Handels- und Plantagen-Gesellschaft (DHPG).
