Jaxa of Köpenick

12th century · 12th century · Also known as Jaxa de Copnic

Jaxa of Köpenick was a Slavic prince of the mid-12th century who ruled from Köpenick, now part of Berlin, and issued coins there. After the death of the Hevelli prince Pribislav-Henry he seized Brandenburg, but Albert the Bear recaptured it in June 1157. His identity, sometimes linked with the Polish noble Jaksa of Miechów, is debated.
