Jayavarman VII

Jayavarman VII was a Khmer king of the late twelfth and early thirteenth century. He drove out Cham invaders who had sacked Angkor and expanded the empire to its greatest extent. A Mahayana Buddhist, he built Angkor Thom with the Bayon temple, hospitals and rest houses, and is regarded as one of the greatest rulers of the Khmer Empire.
