Person
John II of Castile
John II was King of Castile from 1406 to 1454, succeeding his father Henry III as an infant under the regency of his mother and his uncle Ferdinand. His long reign was dominated by his favourite Álvaro de Luna, whom he finally had executed in 1453, and by conflict with the Infantes of Aragon. His army defeated Granada at the Battle of La Higueruela in 1431. He was the father of Isabella I.
