John II of Aragon

1398–1479 · 15th century

John II was King of Navarre by marriage from 1425 and King of Aragon from 1458 until his death. His conflict with his son Charles of Viana and with the Catalan institutions led to the Catalan Civil War of 1462 to 1472, which he eventually won. He arranged the marriage of his son Ferdinand to Isabella of Castile, preparing the union of the Spanish crowns.
