John Lander
John Lander was a Cornish explorer who, with his elder brother Richard Lander, traced the lower course of the Niger to its mouth in 1830, settling the long-standing European question of where the river reached the sea. On the way they were captured on the lower Niger and held at Aboh until ransomed. The brothers' journal of the expedition was published in 1832.
