José Clemente Orozco

1883–1949 · 20th century

José Clemente Orozco was a Mexican painter, one of the three leading artists of the Mexican mural movement. His frescoes, darker and more critical than those of Rivera and Siqueiros, depict war, revolution and human suffering. Major works include the murals of the Hospicio Cabañas in Guadalajara and The Epic of American Civilization at Dartmouth College in the United States.
