Julian Grenier

d. 1275 · 13th century · Also known as Julian of Sidon

Julian Grenier was lord of Sidon and Beaufort in the crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem. His raid into Mongol-held territory in 1260 provoked a Mongol attack that sacked Sidon. Unable to defend his lands, he sold Sidon and Beaufort to the Knights Templar, who held Sidon until the Mamluks took it in 1291.
