Kale Akte

Also known as Calacte

Kale Akte, Latin Calacte, was an ancient town on the north coast of Sicily, at modern Caronia. It was founded around 446 BCE by the Sicel leader Ducetius after his return from exile in Corinth. The town survived as a minor Greek and later Roman community and was the birthplace of the Augustan rhetorician Caecilius of Calacte.
