Karatoya River
The Karatoya is a river of northern Bengal, flowing through north-eastern Bangladesh. Considered sacred in Hindu tradition, it formed the ancient boundary between Kamarupa and Bengal, and the early city of Mahasthangarh, ancient Pundranagara, stood on its banks. Its course has shifted over time and it is now much smaller than in the past.
