Katur dynasty
The Katur dynasty ruled the princely state of Chitral, in the high valleys of north-western Pakistan, from the later 16th century until 1969. Its rulers took the title Mehtar, and its most powerful ruler, Aman ul-Mulk (died 1892), united upper and lower Chitral. After a succession crisis and the siege of Chitral in 1895, the British confirmed the dynasty under their protection, and Chitral acceded to Pakistan in 1947.
