Kertanegara

r. 1268–1292 · 13th century · Also known as Kertanagara

Kertanegara was the last king of Singhasari in eastern Java. Around c. 1275 he launched a major military expedition against Sumatra, further weakening the Srivijaya Empire. His defiance of Kublai Khan led to a Mongol expedition to Java, during which Majapahit emerged.
