Keshab Chandra Sen

1838–1884 · 19th century

Keshab Chandra Sen was a Bengali religious and social reformer who led the Brahmo Samaj, campaigning against caste, child marriage and for women's education and widow remarriage. He founded the Brahmo Samaj of India in 1866. The marriage of his under-age daughter Suniti Devi to the Maharaja of Cooch Behar in 1878 split the movement.
