Keserwan
Keserwan is a mountainous district of Mount Lebanon, north of Beirut, inhabited mainly by Maronite Christians. From the 17th century it was dominated by the Khazen sheikhs under the emirs of Mount Lebanon. In 1858 its peasants rose against their lords and set up a short-lived peasant government, an episode that preceded the civil war of 1860.
