Druze
The Druze are an Arabic-speaking religious community whose faith arose from Ismaili Islam in Egypt in the early 11th century, around the Fatimid caliph al-Hakim. Closed to converts since the mid-11th century, they live mainly in the mountains of Lebanon, Syria and northern Israel. Druze lords dominated Mount Lebanon under the Ma'n emirs, and the community led the Syrian revolt against France in 1925.
