Ma'n dynasty
The Ma'n dynasty were Druze chiefs of the Chouf in Mount Lebanon who rose under Ottoman rule in the 16th century. Their most famous member, Fakhr al-Din II, built a large autonomous domain over much of Lebanon and northern Palestine before the Ottomans executed him in 1635. When the line died out in 1697, leadership of Mount Lebanon passed to their relatives the Shihabs.
