c. 1250 · 13th century

The Konark Sun Temple is a 13th-century Hindu temple to the sun god Surya at Konark on the coast of Odisha, India, built around 1250 by the Eastern Ganga king Narasimhadeva I. It is designed as a giant stone chariot with twenty-four carved wheels drawn by seven horses. Its main tower has collapsed, but the surviving hall was declared a World Heritage Site in 1984.
