Kuver

fl. 680s · 7th century · Also known as Kuber

Kuver was a Bulgar leader of the late 7th century who rebelled against the Avar Khaganate. According to the Miracles of Saint Demetrius, he led a mixed population of Bulgars and descendants of Roman captives from Pannonia south to the Keramisian plain, near Thessalonica, in the 680s and plotted to seize the city. He is often identified with Kuber, a son of the Bulgar khan Kubrat.
