Person
Lamekins
Lamekins was a ruler of the Curonians in the early 13th century. In 1230 he made an agreement with the papal legate Baldwin of Alna, accepting baptism for himself and his people in return for keeping their lands and freedoms under papal protection rather than crusader rule. The agreement soon broke down, and the Livonian Order conquered Courland in the following decades.
