Landulf I of Capua
Landulf I, called the Old, was the Lombard gastald, or count, of Capua in the early 9th century. During the civil wars of the Principality of Benevento in the 830s and 840s he made Capua practically independent. His sons and grandsons, who founded new Capua in 856, built a dynasty that ruled Capua as princes into the 11th century and often also held Benevento.
