Langya Commandery
Langya was a commandery of early imperial China in the south-east of present-day Shandong. Sima Rui held the title Prince of Langya before founding the Eastern Jin dynasty in 317, and the Wang clan of Langya, who followed him south of the Yangtze, became the most powerful aristocratic family of the period. The name remained a mark of aristocratic status long after these families had settled in the south.
