Battle of Fei River

383 · 4th century

The Battle of Fei River was fought in 383 in present-day Anhui, where a much smaller Eastern Jin army under Xie Xuan, directed by Xie An, routed the invading force of Fu Jian of the Former Qin. The defeat shattered Fu Jian's empire, which had unified northern China: subject peoples rebelled and founded Later Yan, Later Qin, Western Yan and other states, while the south remained independent.
