Leonhard, Count of Gorizia

c. 1440–1500 · 15th century

Leonhard was the last count of Gorizia of the Meinhardiner dynasty, ruling from 1462 to 1500. His lands, scattered from the Puster valley to Gorizia, came under pressure from Venice and the Habsburgs. When he died childless in 1500, Emperor Maximilian I inherited Gorizia under an earlier succession treaty, bringing it into the Habsburg lands.
