Carinthia
Carinthia is an Alpine region of southern Austria, centred on the Drava valley and the Klagenfurt basin, with a small part now in northern Slovenia. It grew from the early medieval Slavic principality of Carantania, became a duchy of the Holy Roman Empire in 976 and passed to the Habsburgs in 1335. Today it is an Austrian federal state with its capital at Klagenfurt.
