Klagenfurt
Klagenfurt is the capital of Carinthia in southern Austria, at the eastern end of the Wörthersee. Founded in the 12th century under the Sponheim dukes, it was given by Emperor Maximilian I to the Carinthian estates in 1518 after a fire, and they rebuilt and fortified it as their capital. Its emblem is the Lindwurm Fountain, a dragon statue of the late 16th century.
