Ley Paccionada

1841 · 19th century · Also known as Ley Paccionada de Navarra

The Ley Paccionada is the Spanish law of 16 August 1841 that ended the Kingdom of Navarre's status as a separate realm after the First Carlist War. Negotiated between Navarre's representatives and the government in Madrid, it made Navarre a province of Spain while preserving its own provincial council and a special fiscal and administrative regime. It remains the legal foundation of the modern Foral Community of Navarre.
