Liberal Party (Brazil)

The Liberal Party was one of the two main political parties of the Brazilian Empire, alternating in government with the Conservative Party. It generally favoured greater provincial autonomy and political reform. The emperor's moderating power allowed him to choose ministries and dissolve the chamber, shaping the rotation between the parties.
