Lidice
Lidice is a village near Kladno in the Czech Republic, destroyed by the Nazis on 10 June 1942 in reprisal for the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich. The men were shot, the women sent to Ravensbrück concentration camp and most of the children murdered, and the village was razed. Its fate became a worldwide symbol of Nazi terror, and a new village was built nearby after the war.
