Liverpool
Liverpool is a port city in north-west England, on the estuary of the Mersey. In the 18th century it became the leading British port in the Atlantic slave trade, and in the 19th century it handled much of Britain's trade with West Africa, including palm oil, as well as cotton imports and emigration to America. Its waterfront was a World Heritage Site from 2004 to 2021.
