Lodi Vecchio

Also known as Laus Pompeia

Lodi Vecchio is a town in Lombardy on the site of Roman Laus Pompeia and of medieval Lodi. Milan destroyed the old city in 1111 and again in 1158, after which Frederick Barbarossa refounded Lodi on a new site on the Adda a few miles away. The old site survived as a village, keeping the Romanesque basilica of San Bassiano.
